Project Description: Create and identify symbols to be used to identify bioplastic, recyclable & compostable. These will be used on non-petroleum based products.
Sender: Cereplast, a company that manufactures bioplastics out of corn, wheat & algae. These plastics are used as substitutes for traditional petroleum-based products.
Message: Companies are creating bioplastics which can be recycled or composted. These products are plant-based & "greener" than other options.
Audience: Consumers looking for biodigradable plastic options. Recycle center workers who are to sort the plastic.
Communication Objective: The bioplastic symbols will allow for easy identification of bioplastics.
Specifications / Special Considerations: These symbols must be simple & have the potential to be universally recognized. Designs must be single-color and easily imprinted. Resin identification numbers are to be considered for recycling symbol.
